PUBLIC ADVOCATE

City Attorney as

Public Advocate

Beliefs like freedom and fairness are the basis of good lives, filled with joy and prosperity. This is not the case for the majority of the citizens of Los Angeles, who are disempowered, disenfranchised and disinterested in the very mechanism by which people can affect their common good – our own local politics.

The city pits us against each other, matching landlords against tenants, businesses against residents, airports against their neighbors, and all of us against the environment.

Los Angeles politicians operate against the principles of good government, in contrary to the morals of common good, and in opposition to the livability of the future of our children.

We have no housing policy… no transportation policy… no enforceable policy on the erection of billboards. Gang violence plagues our neighborhoods, traffic snarls our streets, landlords make tenants homeless to sell off to developers, and instead of serving the interests of the people, politicians maintain power and control.

At the intersection where principle meets reality, where core policy decisions are made and the collective pursuit of fair solutions supports our social values, the City Council is out of step and out of touch.

This March, you will have a chance to elect a person whose job it is to see that the laws are created and enforced fairly for all Angelenos. This official serves to make sure neighbors are working together instead of against one another, whose job is to guarantee that the Mayor and the City Council are making and interpreting the law in the best interests of the people they represent.

It is the City Attorney, our attorney in the fight to make The Law of the city of Los Angeles just and enforceable for all its citizens.

I am running for City Attorney of Los Angeles, because I believe that I have a better way to govern LA
, and I hope you will support me however you can – with your time, your effort, your contribution, and most importantly, by voting for me, Noel # 44, in the March 3, 2009 LA City Election Primary.
